2 years in Wisconsin’s foster care system
Kaylyn entered foster care at age 16, where she experienced several different placements before and during her time in care. Due to complicated court involvement, reunification with her biological family was never a possibility and Kaylyn aged out of care on the day that she graduated from high school. She graduated from Carthage College, then continued on to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a Master's degree in Social Work. Kaylyn spent a year in Chicago volunteering with an AmeriCorps program. She hopes to someday be the type of social worker that she wished for as a kid in the system. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies and reading. Kaylyn is a runner, cupcake baker, an aspiring social worker... and a foster kid.
